How to Do Barring On Guitar

First i will tell you about barring, Place your index finger across all six strings on a fret. holding down all of the strings on a fret is called barring.

While barring the strings be sure that all the strings are properly pressed. This may feel strange in beginning but practice will make it fluent. and while you are practicing avoid improper barring, that will sound incomplete.

How to Play Barre Chords

There are many ways to play a chord on guitar,  same chord may be played with different strings on different frets.

Today we are going to tell you some major and sharp barre chords with same position or shape of your fingers, you only have to shift the position of fingers to another fret.

There is always a pattern of chords, here most basic chord is F major barre chord, Through F major barre chord you can play any of these following chords.  So , Lets start with our basic barre chord (F major)

Step 1 – First you have to put your index finger on first fret and hold all strings down perfectly(Barring).

Step 2 – Put your middle finger on 3rd string in 2nd fret.

Step 4 – Put your pinky finger on 4th string in 3rd fret just below your ring finger.

Now strum , if it sounds nice then you have done it perfectly but if any string sounds dead or you do not find it good so do not have to worry just check and again press all strings properly and I am sure you will find it apple of your ear.

  • Ring finger is on 5th string in 4th fret and
  • Pinky is just below of your ring finger pressing 4th string in 4th fret.

Step 2 – Now just slide down this same position of fingers to +2 fret.

Now you are keeping the following finger positions

  • Barring all strings in 3rd fret with your index finger
  • Middle finger is on 3rd string in 4th fret
  • Ring finger is on 5th string in 5th fret
  • Pinky follows your ring finger and hold 4th string in 5th fret.
